This term Year 2 have learned about the habitats, life cycles and food chains of their class birds. They have developed their drawing skills creating close observational drawings of these birds to accompany their information writing, and have shared their learning with the other Year 2 classes. They have generated vocabulary to describe the Great Fire of London by looking closely at art of the period, and have used this to create spine poems. They have compared the key historical events of the Great Fire and the Gunpowder Plot, developing their understanding of chronology, and explored similarities and differences between these Seventeenth Century events. They have used a variety of materials (paint, paper, fabric, thread) to represent these events pictorially, and have further explored the properties of materials in designing and building models of Seventeenth Century houses.
Year 2 finished their learning about the Great Fire of London by recreating the Great Fire and observing for themselves how the fire would have spread ( Autumn learning information continued below).
